Luis Calvillo is an iOS developer and tech founder based in Southern California. He has over a decade of experience building apps and digital products, starting as a freelance graphic designer before transitioning into web and mobile app development.
In 2019, Luis Calvillo founded ShredSpots, a skateboarding discovery app that grew to over 100,000 downloads organically and was acquired in 2021, marking his first exit as a startup founder.
He is currently the Co-Founder & CTO of WhattaEat, a social food discovery platform that helps people decide where to eat through short-form video and local recommendations.
His other notable projects include ShredCam, a custom camera app for skateboarders, and StickOns + ScribbleSpace, two of his early experiments in spatial computing for Apple Vision Pro. He has also built several mobile games, including End All Zombies and Big Pixel Run.
His work focuses on consumer mobile apps, social discovery, local discovery, video products, and tools that help people make better real-world decisions.
Luis is also the creator of the App Canvas framework designed to reduce Day-1 churn and help founders build apps people open daily.
